Betty a La Mode

Michael Urie

Michael Urie doesn’t only play campy assistant ‘Marc’ on ‘Ugly Betty’, he has also produced and directed a series of productions. Not bad for an assistant!

Michael was born in Dallas, Texas on August 8th 1980. He graduated from the Juilliard School in 2003, where he was a recipient of the prestigious John Houseman award.

A relative newbie to the world of acting, his film debut was in the Brittany Murphy film ‘Uptown Girls’ as an uncredited ‘pig walker’. He then went on to a much larger role in ‘WTC View’ a film which he had also played in the stage version.

Michael has had a large amount of experience in Shakespearean theatre, appearing in plays such as ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, ‘Romeo and Juliet’ and most recently, ‘Hamlet’.

Despite his flamboyant nature, Michael has not revealed his sexuality publicly, leaving many girls and guys guessing!
