Biography

Scottish born and bred Ashley Jensen plays kooky seamstress, ‘Christina McKinney’ on ‘Ugly Betty’

Ashley was born in Annan, Dumfries on August 11th 1969. She attended Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh.

Her breakthrough role was as eccentric secretary Rosie McConnichy in BBC comedy ‘May to December’. She then went on to play various television roles such as in ‘Down Among the Big Boys’ and ‘EastEnders’. Before ‘Ugly Betty’, Ashley was best known for her role in ‘Extras’ a BBC comedy which she starred in alongside Ricky Gervais.

She was awarded best television comedy actress & newcomer awards at the 2005 British Comedy Awards’ and in 2006 she received two additional ‘British Comedy Awards’ and a BAFTA nomination. Her film credits include the 2005 film, ‘A Cock and Bull Story’ which stars Steve Coogan.

In January, she married her longtime partner, Terence Beesley.
