Looks like Michael’s been taking a beating…

Victoria Beckham recently shot a guest stint on Ugly Betty in which she plays a bridesmaid at the wedding of witchy editor Wilhelmina Slater (Vanessa Williams). Urie, who plays Marc St. James on the show, says Beckham’s three sons with soccer superstar hubby David Beckham were on set for a scene in which Williams kicks Urie.

The Beckham offspring—Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz—asked Urie to show them how Williams kicked him without hurting him.

“So, I showed them how to fake kick someone,” Urie said at the Outfest Legacy Project’s Legacy Awards at the DGA on Thursday. “Then they proceeded to fake kick me. These are soccer spawn, and they could kick—and they didn’t always miss! I spent about a half hour getting kicked by Beckham spawn!” [Read the full article here >>>]

Haha! Hope he isn’t too battered and bruised

Another promo picture has been released showing Justin’s GIRLFRIEND! Looks like after last week’s episode, with the shopkeeper saying how Justin must be just like his dad, he’s going to try and make himself a bit more boyish. First choosing the basketball from Santos’s things and now a girlfriend… I can’t wait to see what’s coming up with Justin.

Also, the press release for the episode gives us a bit more of an insight into what’s coming up in Episode 5, ‘A League of Their Own’:

Much to Henry’s distress, Betty tries internet dating and gets asked out on a bowling date. Meanwhile Marc finds himself attracted to someone who isn’t his type, chubby but charming photographer Cliff (David Blue). On the home front, Daniel and Alexis steel themselves for a “family” dinner with step-mom-to-be Wilhelmina, and Hilda, lost in her own world, doesn’t notice that Justin is ditching school and running with the wrong crowd.

“Gay characters are not unheard of in American drama, but Ugly Betty went a stage further by introducing a friendship between the flamboyant gay fashion editor Marc St James (Michael Urie) and Justin, Betty’s 12-year-old brother (Mark Indelicato), who is clearly (but not explicitly) struggling with his sexuality.

‘It’s a relationship we’ve never seen before on television,’ says Urie. ‘We’ve seen what America is willing to accept with a gay man in a couple, but we’ve never seen a positive relationship with a young child before.’ One of the show’s creators, Silvio Horta, is gay and says that, as Justin ages, he will experience ‘the journey’. ‘I see myself in him. Growing up, I certainly felt like an outsider at times. But there is this sweet innocence in Justin that sees the positive.”

The recent appearance of Ugly Betty actress, America Ferrera, on the covers of fashion magazines — Cosmopolitan (February 2007), W (May 2007) and, most recently, Glamour (October 2007) — makes my brain hurt.

The show revolves around the hypocrisy of the fashion industry. Betty is (relatively speaking) ugly and lovable. The take-away message: You are more than your looks. Yet all three covers proudly and loudly announce that America Ferrera is, in fact, beautiful. Why bend-over-backwards to make Betty a bombshell after all? Is the fashion industry scared?

Digital Spy: Fans think ‘Ugly Betty’ is real

Ugly Betty star America Ferrera has revealed that fans think her character in the hit US series really exists.

The 23-year-old said she is inundated with letters from viewers asking how she finds working for the show’s fictional magazine Mode.

She told Heat: “The line gets blurred. You just have to deal with that every now and then and be safe and be careful. I try to keep as low-key as I can.”
