America Ferrera Glamour Magazine CoverFirst off, I’m pleased to tell you that America is the cover girl of the October edition of Glamour Magazine. It isn’t all great news though. Just as ‘Natalie Whitman’ was photoshopped in ‘The Box & The Bunny’, America has had a digital makeover also. Sadly, it just shows how true to life Ugly Betty is. Anyway, I don’t want to lead into this with too much of a downer as it’s an interesting interview, so check it out…

[There’s also a few pictures from the magaine which I will be adding to the site tomorrow, it’s 1am so i can’t be bothered to do it now!]

You’ll notice that the interview has been copied onto a Betty a La Mode page, because from now on, I will be starting to collect interviews which will then be accessible from the cast member’s profiles. If you know of any interviews with the cast online, please send me the link so I can add them to the site! Thanks

I was reading an article which I found on the other day about how the show is viewed as a ‘gay’ show by some people. Whilst I do not think of Ugly Betty as a gay show, it is impossible to deny it is not gay friendly. With several gay characters, a transsexual and Justin’s questionable sexuality, Ugly Betty has approached many gay related storylines positively. It comes as no surprise then that some of the cast are supporting this new initiative…

“Grey’s Anatomy” stars Kate Walsh, T.R. Knight and Sara Ramirez, “Ugly Betty” stars Eric Mabius, Becki Newton, Michael Urie and Rebecca Romijn, “Brothers & Sisters” stars Rachel Griffiths and Jason Lewis and a number of other entertainers and athletes, including tennis legend Martina Navratilova and singer Lance Bass, have taken part in a new PSA campaign to battle homophobia and stress the importance of tolerance.”

“Be an ally and a friend” is the theme of the campaign. There will be 25 ads, the first of which was unveiled today. TR Knight, Jerry O’Connell, Martina Navratilova, John Amaechi, Rachel Griffiths and Marlee Matlin appear in the ad. Subsequent ads will become available in the weeks ahead. The campaign is targeted at straight people whose support and tolerance towards GLBT community can empower combat against homophobia.”

I think that’s a great initiative. The video with the UB cast is not out yet, but when it is, I’ll post it on the BALM YouTube Channel.

E!’s ‘Watch with Kristin’ column have just published this:

According to inside sources, Marlo Thomas will be heading to Ugly Betty this season, guest starring as an advertising bigwig who has a thang for younger men. And you’ll never guess which younger man catches her eye—or, okay, actually, it’s probably completely obvious—one Mr. Daniel Meade, aka Eric Mabius.

Nice to see dear Danny boy on the other side of a May-December relationship for once, doncha think?

ANOTHER name to add to the guest star list!

Anyway, now I need your opinion on something. The gallery is a bit empty, because it is awfully long-winded to update and does not have the best design. I looked for a free hosting gallery but nothing offered anything that good, so I’ve come to the conclusion if I’m going to have a BALM gallery, it’s going to have to be a hosted one. Of course, that means money. I will only bother if there is enough interest, as I don’t want to just throw my money away! It’s just that I have access to a great scanner and UK magazine which no other fansite does, so it’d be foolish to let them pass by. What do you think?
