Well there we go, Season 2 is over [unless the writer’s strike gets resolved anytime soon].
I hope you enjoyed it, I certainly did!
Anyway, I have been busy beavering away on the new site, hence the lack of updates here. I am hoping to get it opened by March, but you know how unpredictable these things can be. Thank you so much for all your support, messages & comments over the past few months, to know people are still visiting means a lot.
So, for now, the site’s on hiatus so I can complete the new one. Keep checking back, I’ll pop up updates on how close the site is to completion and perhaps a few sneak peeks if you’re lucky!
Before I go, I am still looking for people willing to lend a helping hand, so please contact me if you would like to be invloved in Betty a la Mode v.2 :)
Speak to you soon,

Hello, Hello! Happy new year and I hope you had a lovely Christmas. Mine was awful, soooo boring! Although I cannot complain, I received the Ugly Betty calendar and a horde of ‘Heroes’ merchandise which was much appreciated.
Anyway, I thought I’d let you in on my plan for the new year. As you may have noticed, things have slowed down around here due to my workload and a bit of laziness. I think the laziness is to to the nature of the site. My long posts which encapsulates a few days news take a surprisingly long time to write which is quite off putting after a few hours of university work. So from now on, I think there will be more, shorter posts rather than long ones. This will mean that the site will be updated more frequently and that there will be more to check back for each day. Hopefully this will get the site back up to it’s old standard and generate a bit of buzz.
Secondly, I think I will be leaving WordPress. If you’re not sure what WordPress is, it’s a blogging site which allows bloggers to host their sites for free, which is what Betty a La Mode is hosted on. I have a lot to thank WordPress for, as it allowed me to open the site, but it is quite restrictive in what I can post or do to alter the appearance of the site. That is why, starting in the next few weeks, I will begin creating the site in proper HTML / CSS and moving to a proper host. Whilst this means the site will be on hiatus, it does mean that the site will be offering much more when it does come back.
Lastly, 2008 will be a new year of relationships and networking with fellow fansites. Also, there will hopefully be some more additions to the staff to help me maintain the site. Anyone who would like to help with the upcoming changeover, please contact me through the ‘Contact’ button on the left hand side. From Photoshop to Dreamweaver, or just adding content, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Until then, I will be posting about the upcoming episodes, with the next being shown on January 10th.
Here’s to 2008, and a new chapter for Betty a La Mode.
I am happy to say that this is coming to you straight from my armchair in my home, as I am back from University for the holidays! This past week has been manic, my leg has almost totally healed but I have had essay upon essay to complete. Then, two assignments, one of which that was due in today and a Mathematics exam this morning. Phew! Anyway…
Sad news, no new Ugly Betty until after Christmas. I know, it’s going to be tough, but at least it leaves us to focus on Christmas shopping! You must remember though, unlike other high profile shows like Heroes or Desperate Housewives, we still have episodes left to view so we can’t be too unhappy. I don’t know about you, but this Writer’s Strike is getting old, FAST. Why not make it a truly Merry Christmas and sort it out guys?
If you, like me, have been quoting ‘I’m Wilhelmina Slater and I don’t get wet. You’re wearing plastic!’ at EVERY opportunity, feast your eyes on this. Some lovely soul has uploaded the video onto YouTube so you can watch it over and over and over …
Next time it is raining, it is your duty as an Ugly Betty fan to slip ‘I’m Wilhelmina Slater and I don’t get wet. You’re wearing plastic!’ into a conversation! No stealing taxis from old ladies though, that’s just mean, hehe.
Thanks to Ugly Betty News, check out this video of Marc in an advert for his upcoming show, ‘Miss America: Reality Check’. It looks great, hopefully some kind sould will upload it onto the internet for us all to see.
Still struggling on what to get as a present for your loved ones? The SeenOn store at ABC offers a wide selection of products which have been featured on the show, from clothes to office furniture! There are some things on there that I really want, [like one of those orange lamps from the Mode offices!] hopefully you’ll find something too!

Anyway, will be doing another post pretty shortly. Sorry once again that updates have been pretty slow recently, but now I’m back for the holidays, things should go back to normal. Thanks for visiting :)
It has been so long! I am such a bad webmaster, but I have a valid reason, my coursework for my University module was in a while ago which accounted for 80% of my final grade, so sadly, Betty was the last thing on my mind. Then, after I posted the ‘I’m Not Dead’ post last week, I went and dislocated my knee, which means I have been limping around in pain. I am so happy to be back with you, my lovely readers, hehe. A gap this big also means a crap load of news, which is a bummer so a lot of it I will just have to skim past some, otherwise I will be here all day!
Two great episodes, each of them showing the deeper side of Betty. The show has been accused of becoming a bit too light and frothy in the recent series, but these last two episodes can truly silence those critics. The scenes between Claire & Bradford were so touching, more so than the fact that he actually died, haha! And Willi this week, oh my goodness! She is pure evil! I will post a full recap in the episode section, which I will be updating over the next few weeks.
One thing I did notice, is that the ratings for the most recent episode were really low, due to Thankgiving [Happy VERY belated Thanksgiving all you USA’ers!]. This happened last year as well, so you’d think ABC would learn. Especially as they hardly have many episodes left due to the writer’s strike and the fact that there was NO UGLY BETTY THIS WEEK. [I only found out about that a few days before and I was gutted!]. Oh well, it just seems a shame so many people missed such a great episode.
ABC have been updating the official site though with a few new activities and games, including the ‘Face Shifter’. You mix up the tiles and make your own Ugly Betty face, just like the opening sequence. Here’s my try:
They also have a new game where you can create your own cover with your face on it! Kudos to ABC, because before, the site was looking a bit bare. Click here to play both of the games
In guest star news, Gene Simmons has been signed up to appear, with many people guessing he will be Amanda’s daddy.
“On Monday, December 3rd, I’m shooting Ugly Betty – not her… the show,” quipped Simmons in an update posted on his record company’s website.
The bassist and vocalist kept coy about his cameo. “Can’t tell you just yet who I’m playing or what it’s about,” Simmons wrote, but he added that “it might give you a chuckle”. [Source]
Haha, can’t wait to see him in it!
I just read on Ugly Betty News, that Michael will be hosting his own show, starting on January 4th. Wow! Although I have to admit, I think him teamed with Becki would be the ultimate hosting duo. Here’s the lowdown on the show:
For the first time in history, MISS AMERICA: REALITY CHECK brings all 52 beauty queens together to live under one roof to undo everything they have learned about pageant basics and determine if their smarts, attitudes and looks hold up in contemporary society. Led by host Urie, the girls participate in an intense set of events and challenges designed to prepare them for the finale event, a renewed competition that will redefine what it takes to be Miss America, a relatable and individual ‘it girl’ who can connect with today’s modern woman. Finally, some new Betty tonight, feels like an age doesn’t it? CHeck out the promo here:
I will post more tomorrow, my leg’s acting up again so I need to go and lie down [I ahve become SUCH an old man since my knee got dislocated haha!]
Thanks for coming back after such a long break, I appreciate it!

Expect a post explaining it all tomorrow.
Along with the LONG overdue update
This is my first mid-week post in ages, I have been so busy with work that this has been impossible up until now. There was quite a lot of news too, do I thought I’d get some out of the way now!
To be honest, I wasn’t that surprised when I heard this. Penelope Cruz is apparently in talks to become the latest addition to the guest list on Ugly Betty. Her and Salma are such good friends, I knew it would only be a matter of time. This is still unconfirmed though, and with the writer’s strike, who knows what’s going to happen! Penelope is a truly great actress, unlike some of the guest stars *cough*Posh Spice*cough*, so I really hope this is true [Source]
If you hadn’t already heard, ‘Buffy’s Eliza Dushku will be appearing in Episode 209, “Giving Up The Ghost” as a Mode cover girl. I was a big fan of ‘Buffy’ and of Eliza’s character ‘Faith’, so I can’t wait to see her swap kicking vampire butt to working the catwalk!
“Giving Up the Ghost” – A Wilhelmina-induced crisis at Mode finds everyone scrambling to re-create an issue on deadline. Desperate times call for desperate measures, as Daniel and Betty try to break wild child cover girl (Eliza Dushku as Cameron Ashlock) out of rehab for a re-shoot, and Alexis tries to charm the printer (guest star David J. Steinberg) into extending their time. Meanwhile, Betty struggles with an unwelcome (and persistent) visitor who hopes to goad her into making good on a promise, on “Ugly Betty,” THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 22 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
The strike is still ongoing and TV Guide’s Ausiello sadly confirms that this means the musical episode, for now, is cancelled.
Question: Please tell me that in the six or seven episodes left of Ugly Betty, the musical episode is included! — Katie
Ausiello: Unfortunately, it’s not. That episode hadn’t been approved yet anyway. It was still in the idea stage when the strike happened.
They better include it in Season 2 [Part 2] or Season 3, if it comes to that!
Another little snippet about the strike reveals that the last three episodes which have been written may not be up to par with the other episodes.
“Ugly Betty” is also continuing production. 13 scripts have been written and it is possible all will be produced, but the writers won’t be available for last-minute rewrites for the final 3, so they may be inferior in quality.
Just get Becki & Michael to wing it, I’m sure it’d be hilarious!
And to end, check out these promo pictures featuring ‘Golden Girl’ Betty White. These are from Episode 210, ‘Bananas For Betty’ where Willi tries to improve her public image by doing good in the community. It all goes well until she meets poor old Betty. Betty White, that is!
I LOVE Betty White, she is such the stereotypical sweet old lady!
Haha! This picture is hilarious! Willi helping keep the streets of New York clean
I think I’d be as scared as Betty looks here, if Wilhelmina came to visit me in hospital!
